Absolutely wonderful! Some of the best pasta I've had since I was in Italy! Great service, excellent wine list. Will definitely be back!
MoreThis place is a tourist trap and the food ranges from mediocre to not good at all. It is also extremely overpriced. I have been here three times over the last few years when out of town co-workers visit in large groups. The pasta is always overcooked and the sauces are uninviting. The steak and fish is bland and you get a giant piece of undercooked broccoli as a side. There is nothing authentic Tuscan on the menu even though it's claiming to be a Tuscan Italian restaurant. They even have pictures of Venice on the walls. I would never choose to eat here and hope you do not either. The choices for Italian food in San Francisco are abundant and North Beach Restaurant should not be on the list.
MoreGREAT food, service, location. Everything you want in a restaurant!
Just finished lunch, had the Pasta Della Casa. I enjoyed the whole experience, food, service, atmosphere & all! Definitely recommend!
MoreDelicious Northern Italian Cuisine with some of the best Italian cakes I have ever tasted ! The spaghetti was delicious and delightful. I recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends ! I will definitely return to try the other dishes !
MoreFantastic food and excellent service. The staff at this places takes such great care of you. We had a blast - great place
MoreThe experience in this Resturant is far from what anyone is used too , it’s super upscale and the amazing old fashion waiter style service was beyond , it was a luxury experience the vibe was amazing, even better when the wine that was recommended arrived just what we like exactly the taste we described, I had Ravioli with pesto sauce and with our any doubt was the best Ravioli dish I ever tasted thanks to our waiter recommendation I have a new favorite dish it’s worth every penny , highly recommended if u have guest or just want to take someone special somewhere elegant to have good food, wine, experience
MoreDelicious pasta! It's all very fairly priced. Easy to get to. Make a reservation! We were able to get one for later that evening easily.Handmade pasta. We had the alfredo and wild mushroom tagliatelle. The alfredo was good, but not wildly different. The mushroom tagliatelle was divine. Fresh mushrooms throughout and the sauce is the best I have had. My sister doesn't even like mushrooms and enjoyed the pasta.
MoreThis is THE place for Italian in S.F., white tablecloth, tuxedoed waiters, extraordinary food and service, and a wine cellar full of hanging prosciutto hams. Manga !
MoreGreat Italian food. Good selection. Service was superb, great atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly excellent tasting food. Recommend.
MoreService was excellent and nice ambiance!Food was consistently good. If you like rum, finish off your meal with semi-alfredo instead of tiramisu.
MoreVery nice find. Wanted a nice place to get a quick bite before a show. Got much much more! Did not have a reservation. Yet the staff was very accommodating and seated us within three minutes. Mentioned we had a show to catch in 45 minutes. The place was packed. Still they got our order to us quickly and the food was fantastic! Will make plans to go again, bring friends and spend more time.
MoreHospitality and food second to none in North Beach. Look no further! (And go for the pappardelle :)
MoreI ordered the lasagna On the menu it read that it was made to order (20) minutes. It was delivered in less than 10 minutes. It was the worst lasagna ever! I will never be back! In my opinion it’s a tourist trap. I have lives in SF for over 25 yrs and I fell for the white tablecloths and napkins. On top of the bad food the waiter had attitude towards our party .
MoreAn authentic Italian restaurant with amazing service. I had the absolute best sea scallops in a beurre blanc sauce I have ever had in my life.
MoreI have been wanting to try this place for a looooong time. I finally made it with my family while we were staying at the Wyndham on Bush St. The ambience is mellow, with a mix of tourists and locals. We made reservations for 6:30 and it was good that we did because we came before the rush. I ordered the veal parmigiana and it came with some broccoli and potatoes. The Chianti I had was good. The bread is fresh. The Caesar salad was good. I would recommend this place for yummy Italian food in North Beach.
MoreExcellent traditional Tuscan eatery in the middle of North Beach, with an extensive menu and wine list, a focus on quality and service, and delicious food. Dinner for two can easily top $150.
MoreA true North Beach classic that continues to deliver decade after decade. While many other restaurants in the neighborhood rotate to new owners and reinvent themselves, the North Beach restaurant remains a rock. The house-cured prosciutto is amazing. If you have a special group event you can dine downstairs in the prosciutto curing room with hams overhead.
MoreI come here all the time I love it thank you guys
If you are looking for a classic Italian restaurant you should definitely visit this place. The food is delightful and the staff is extremely professional. It is a big restaurant but it has several small dining areas (you dine with no more than 6 other parties). I would recommend the veal milanese and the mare chiaro pasta.
MoreThis place is just great. Food in unbelievablely good, every single employee was extremely friendly and the restaurant's ambient is great. First let me start with the food. The food was so delicious and it wasn't too expensive; I had the pasta vodka and totally recommend this. Second the employees, they where extremely friendly, they guided us through all the menu and could answer any questions we had. Finally the ambient. This restaurant has an incredible ambient, where you get a fancy restaurant experience without breaking the bank which I think is awesome.
MoreWow! This is one of the best meals I've had in a long time, and the credit goes as much to or waiter, Spiro, as to the chef. From the beginning it was clear we were in VERY competent hands. We placed ourselves in Spiro's care, and were glad for it. The meal he composed for us was a work of art, and every stroke of the brush was perfection. From drink pairings to hors d'oeuvres to entrees to dessert... everything was perfection. If you come to San Francisco, you must come here. If you come here, I recommend you ask for Spiro.Bon appetit.
MoreI got engaged today! And we ate dinner at North Beach Restaurant... It doesn't get better than this. We were treated with such hospitality and warmth. And the meal was amazing. Truly a special place to celebrate such an amazing day!
MoreBeautiful restaurant! We have been here many times for years and there is always amazing service. We love the The restrooms are immaculate! A phenomenal place to eat if you are in little Italy in the city. I love the scallops and the carbonara!
MoreService could be faster, but food was great.
Never ever go to this restaurant with a group unless you like being ripped off so much that you will think it’s a nightmare. It does everything with such aplomb and faux grandeur. It’s the old trick... look at the prosciutto and here is the “VIP†wine list (price a little vague) and here is the lobster that you never ordered and then here is the bill (outrageous) with a mandatory $400 tip “that goes to the restaurant†so here is another $200 tip (included) for the OTT waiter. One last act in the “showâ€. He will only take two credit cards to split the bill! If you like taking your wallet out and having it rifled while you are presented with mediocre food then it’s the place for you. Dishonest and reprehensible. Tips1) do not go 2) if you have to go ask for the price of everything 3) only order wine you know the price of. It’s truly unforgettable- for all the wrong reasons. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS.
MoreWe had a fun and lively dinner here last Saturday around 7:30 pm. Our friends made a reservation ahead of time, which I highly recommend (there were a few parties on the wait list). The staff were not only pleasant, but very approachable and personable— they made jokes, smiled, and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there! ☺ï¸Of the food we ordered, the table favorite was a seafood linguini with scallops (about $28). The scallops were so tender and flavorful, perfectly cooked! Two at our table had the Pasta Della Casa ($20) and another had a breaded flatfish fillet (which he liked). If you come here, I suggest going all out with the seafood: I wish I had gone for lots of scallops, instead of my conservative (but yummy) house pasta! ðŸ¤ðŸThe place is popular for birthdays, at one point there were 4 happy birthday songs sung in about a 20 minute period, which was hilarious. 🎂
Moreitalian food, yummy. the food was tasty. the service was very helpful and observant. the bill won't shock you. i can see why they have so many reviews.
MoreGreat food, great atmosphere, great service
Service was mediocre and the food tasted like it came from a cafeteria
Delicious, carefully prepared, food and gracious service. Will definitely return.
MoreHigh end restaurant that had an amazing selection. The service was top notch, and our waiter basically "made a meal" for us which was very appreciated and very good. Excellent meal!
MoreI'd give it more stars if I could. Phenomenal food and amazing service. If you get a chance, ask to see the prosciutto aging area. First class all the way! With all the great restaurants in SFO, we still can't visit the city without going there!
MoreThis is about the honesty and sincerity of someone going way beyond what their job is. I had dropped my wallet in front of the restaurant. This had my driver's license, and a bunch of cards. A bartender working in this restaurant found the wallet, used her own money to pack it and ship it. Let us all appreciate great businesses like North Beach Restaurant. Thank you Restaurant, Thank you Marilyn!ThanksBabu
MoreGreat location with waiters in slacks and jackets that seem to speak Italian, or at least have a very thick accent. Pastas are fresh and maybe homemade? The sauces are delicious with lots and lots of cream, so if you are lactose intolerant is hard to find something here. The only thing lacking are some vegetarian/vegan options. They could make some of their sauces with almond milk and it would taste the same. The only vegan option was spaghetti with tomatos.
MoreHad a fantastic meal. Great service, food was fantastic as was the house wine. Staff excellent, art work is amazing, walks full of Miro's. Friendly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
MoreClassic old school atmosphere, warm and wise service and hearty Italian classics served quickly and efficiently. Cioppino, Linguine porcini scallops, ravioli Ragu, an off menu cannoli dessert and veal parmigiana stood out. Great place to entertain.
MoreCame here for a Sunday brunch with friends. No brunch but the "lunch" was very good. Will return again.
MoreGreat food and selection of Italian specialties .great service and nice atmosphere
MoreGreat food, excellent service. Best Italian in SF.
The service here was very below average. I came in for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend, and we were overlooked because we were below 30 and weren't categorized as 'big spenders' (which we usually are). The waiter rushed us in and out, and made us feel as if we were a bother. The table next to had amazing service. Very discriminating. The food is good though
MoreHow far the mighty have fallen. It's been years and I well remember how good the food here used to be. Time had not been kind. Salads were willed and somehow both overdressed (way too much) and underdressed (minimal flavor for all that was there). My pasta was massively over salted to the point of being inedible, my companion's gnocchi was flavorless, and the fettuccini Alfredo had the good fortune of being, well, ok. Will not return.
MoreHighly overrated food. Decent service, though the bar tender would not let our small group transfer our drinks to our reserved table tab and we had to settle up separately and individually at the bar. Not a very customer friendly practice.
MoreMade last minute reservations as the curtain rose on Beach Blanket Babylon for after the show. What a great choice. First drinks at the bar, then escorted to a table near the front window. Watching the old-school tuxedoed waiters do their perfect professional dance was so wonderful We had Bay Shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad (with anchovies, of course) followed by Bolognese-style pasta special and petrale stuffed with shrimp and crab. For dessert, we skipped the solids and had a chocolate martini and Cynar (look it up! A hard-to-find Italian digestif). For San Francisco, a meal of this caliber with liquor was a value for under $200. And it is in North Beach, one of SF’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Such a San Francisco treat.
MoreOverall the experience was great. The service was amazing he whole time. Our server was knowledgeable, the restaurant was busy but our drinks and food came out in a timely manner. Our plates were always cleared as soon as we were finished and our drinks were always full. There were no complaints from our party, all food and drinks were delicious. The espresso martini was to die for! It really was a great atmosphere for a nice long Italian dinner.
MoreI have to throw an extra special thank you to Raj and the team this evening. It was a slower Tuesday night but they made the entire meal into an experience with wines paired to each course. This was just an incredible meal, with everything from the preparation to the ambiance to the service receiving top marks. We will definitely return.
MoreRude owner and staff, asked a doordash driver to leave without his order because it would look bad having them wait in the restaurant. Didn't end up eating here, not sure if it's worth the condescending comments.
MoreI live outside as you guys know and this spot is bustling right on Stockton ave the cross of Chinatown and Little Italy The food came extremely hot and fresh organic ingredients I must say this is the best eggplant parmigiana I’ve ever had and my garrison was extremely polite they serve at the table fresh cheese as well as pepper grinder I have been deliciously please hello everyone
MoreWe came in on Sunday for a late brunch. We have walked past this place many times but never had an opportunity to try the food. So we decided to give it a go and, plus, we were craving for creamy food that day. typical Northern Italian food. Services were good. (Though the waiter was inexperienced, he had a great attitude.) anyhow, pasta/ravioli/planto soups were yummy. We will come back as long as this place is not packed.
MoreWe came here with a party of 12 or more and 4 kids and they were amazing accommodating and nice. The food was INCREDIBLE and easily one of my best meals ever in SF. The Crab Diavolo was one of the best overall dishes I have ever eaten honestly. I cannot wait to go back next time we are in town.
